I have to read a book over the summer, and I need to choose between Cold Mountain and All Souls%26#039; Rising. If you%26#039;ve read either of them, can you tell me a little bit about them (I don%26#039;t want a full summary, just like, a sentence) and whether or not you liked it/why or why not? I just need help deciding =D

Thanks!

They are both very good, yet emotionally difficult books. I prefered All Souls%26#039; Rising though.
I need your opinions on these books....?
i liked reading cold mountain because it had ties to history that were interesting and not boring. there are many sub plots in the book as well which made me that much more interested. definetely a page turner.

Reply:You might enjoy the Artemis Fowl series...It%26#039;s about a 12 year old criminal master mind...I would best describe it as Draco Malfoy is a muggle and finds out that fairies are real and uses all his power and money to find a way to extort millions of dollars from them...it%26#039;s a different tone from Harry Potter more action adventure like Indiana Jones or James Bond. But I love them!

What is the best star wars book series to read after Young Jedi knights?

Just Finished the Young jedi knights series, and i wanted to know what book series to start next, thanks.
What is the best star wars book series to read after Young Jedi knights?
Well, there are plenty to choose from. I am only going to reference the adult books, since I haven%26#039;t read any of the young adult or childrens series. However, these books are quite suitable for any age.

As to where to start, that depends upon what you are mainly interested in. I can give you some recommendations based upon what I have read and enjoyed, but most of the books are pretty good.

If you like Sith legend and folklore, then you should start with Path of Destruction and Rule of Two. These are about Darth Bane and take place about 1000 years before the events of Star Wars. They are about the struggle between the Jedi and the Sith for power and supremacy in the old republic. These do not feature any of the characters you will be familiar with, but give you a pretty good idea of the power struggle between the dark side and the light side.

If you enjoy the new movies (Episodes I, II and III), then I would recommend the Republic Commando series. This series is about a couple of units of clone troopers, two young Jedi generals, their battles in the Clone Wars and their struggle for life and freedom from the Imperial Army. These books are Hard Contact, Triple Zero and True Colors.

If you are a Han Solo/Chewbacca fan, make sure to read the Han Solo Trilogy (The Paradise Snare, The Hutt Gambit and Rebel Dawn). These detail the life story of Han Solo up until he meet Luke and Obi Wan in the Cantina.

As far as books that take place after the original movies (up to 40 years after the events of Episodes IV, V and VI), you will probably want to start with (in chronological order by timeline): Tatooine Ghost, The Thrawn Trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command), I Jedi, The Corellian Trilogy (Ambush at Corellia, Assault at Selonia, Showdown at Centerpoint) and the Hand of Thrawn Duology (Specter of the Past, Vision of the Future).

Follow those up with The New Jedi Order. There are 17 books in this series which is much more dramatic, tragic and life-altering to the characters than any of the events in the movies.

I would also recommend that you read the books in the X-Wing series as well, although these feature mainly new characters.

Most of these books continue where Return of the Jedi left off and you may already be familiar with many of the characters and events from the Young Jedi Knights series, many of which are written as companions to these books.

I am sure that you can find something that interests you in these books. Enjoy.

The Hobit - Enlgish Class?

In chapter three, an elf gives the company a choice of eating or singing. I have to explain how their reaction fits.

I think it fits them poorly, because they LOVE to sing, and decide to go on for food anyways. But - anyone who%26#039;s read it - how would you answer it? References would be great!
The Hobit - Enlgish Class?
well, i read the book about a month ago.

my answer would have to be that their reaction does not fit them at all, but it fits the situation. They were looking for food and they are on a journey, seems somewhat fitting for the situation doesn%26#039;t it?

anyways thats just me, it seems to be more of a question of personal thought!

Conflicts - Harry has numerous conflicts, youve got him and malfoy fighting, quiditch matches, internal conflict would be loss of parents, conflict with snape, fights voldemort at end

Resolution, harry keeps voldemort from getting stone

climax is the fight between harry and voldemort
What is the main Conflict In Harry Potter and Philosher%26#039;s Stone?
that harry meats voldumort eek

The climax would be when Harry finally reaches the stone

The resolution is Voldemort is defeated (for now anyways)

Any book recommendations for Summer reading?

Any really good books for summer reading?

I%26#039;m in 8th grade.
Any book recommendations for Summer reading?
Here are some of my favorite teen novels:

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It%26#039;s about a girl named Bella who moves to Forks, Washington and runs into a group of vampires. VERY VERY good! I REALLY think you should give it a chance because I%26#039;m not into vampire stuff, but it was AMAZING!

http://stepheniemeyer.com/twilight.html

Pants On Fire by Meg Cabot. It%26#039;s about a girl who basically has everything (popular best friend, good grades... and TWO boyfriends.) It%26#039;s really funny because then her friend from eighth grade come back to town (everyone hates him) and she falls head over heals for him too.

http://www.megcabot.com/

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. It%26#039;s about four girls who where born as friends. They go through ups and downs together.

All-American Girl and All-American Girl Ready Or Not by Meg Cabot. It%26#039;s about an outcast girl who happens to save the presidents life. Suddenly everyone at school wants to be her friend, but she doesn%26#039;t really care... What she does care about is the presidents son...

How To Be Popular by Meg Cabot. It%26#039;s about a girl who comes across an old book in her grandma%26#039;a attic called how to be popular. So, she follows the rules of the book hoping to become popular.

Jinx by Meg Cabot. If you liked Twilight, then you%26#039;ll like this book. It%26#039;s about a girl who has bad luck all the time so she moves in with her aunt and uncle. He sister is into witchcraft and I don%26#039;t want to spoil the rest, but it fairly good.

Teen Idol by Meg Cabot. This is about a girl who has an advice column in her school newspaper. So, when a famous actor comes to her school and she%26#039;s the only one who knows about it, chaos occurs!

Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen is also pretty good. It%26#039;s about two girls that are best friends who are having a few issues in the love department.

http://www.sarahdessen.com/?q=books

Just Listen by Sarah Dessen is one of my favorites! It%26#039;s about a girl who had something terrible happen to her and she%26#039;s learning how to cope with it and befriends an outcast boy.

The Mediator series by Meg Cabot. I%26#039;ve only read the first two, but they are VERY good. It%26#039;s about a girl named Suze who moves to California from New York because her mother just remarried. Oh, and Suze can see ghosts...

13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. It%26#039;s about a guy named Clay who gets these tapes in the mail about why a girl named Hannah killed herself. It%26#039;s very good and a great page-turner!

http://www.thirteenreasonswhy.com/

Good luck with finding a book! I hope these help!

Reply:I%26#039;m really enjoying %26quot;Bones of the Master%26quot; by George Crane. It%26#039;s an incredibly powerful true story, about a Buddhist monk who escaped Maoist Mongolia, lives in Woodstock, is a poet and who went back into Mongolia with his friend who wrote the book. Very easy to read to. Also %26quot;the Convoluted Universe%26quot; pts. 1 and 2 are extremely interesting.
Reply:I know the following is a long list, but that is just so that you can pick which genre or storyline you feel like reading...

For horror/suspense:

-H.P. Lovecraft%26#039;s short stories, such as %26quot;The Dunwich Horror,%26quot; %26quot;The Dreams in the Witch-House,%26quot; %26quot;The Shadow Over Innsmouth%26quot; etc...Many of his stories have an excellent spook factor and eerie endings (and there are some excellent books that are collections of Lovecraft%26#039;s greatest works)

-Books by Dean Koontz - I%26#039;ve heard Watchers is good, which is why I%26#039;m working on that right now. Watchers involves the consequences of a top-secret government laboratory genetically altering two creatures - one a very intelligent dog and one a savage, violent monster. Koontz%26#039;s books have excellent suspense and even some mystery and horror intertwined in them.

For fantasy/fiction:

-The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

-The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Tolkien

-The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

-I don%26#039;t know how old you are, but when I was a little younger I liked a lot of Tamora Pierce%26#039;s series. My favorite series of hers was always Circle of Magic (which has four books, each one revolving around a kid with a special power...). I also heard her The Song of the Lioness series was good, which is about a girl trying to become a knight. (You don%26#039;t have to be young to enjoy her books/series...).

-For something a little more mature, perhaps, you could try George R.R. Martin%26#039;s fantasy novels/series. I have actually never read his stuff, but my dad enjoys his works (and so do many others I%26#039;ve talked to...). One fantasy series of his that is popular is called A Song of Ice and Fire.

For historical fiction (a lot of these contain underlying romance, as well):

-Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maud Montgomery (it has eight books overall, the first one being Anne of Green Gables). This series takes place in the early 1900s, and is about a hot-headed, stubborn orphan girl who finds a way of fitting into the little town of Avonlea on Prince Edward Island...

-Any of the books by Jane Austen, such as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, etc...Most of her books are about women of the 1800s and their attempts at fitting into society and finding romance/love, if you didn%26#039;t already know.

-Little Women by Louisa May Alcott - This is about four sisters in the 1860s, and it portrays how the sisters grow up, find romance/love, etc...

For something a little more classic, perhaps:

-Gulliver%26#039;s Travels by Jonathan Swift - This is about a sailor (I believe he was a ship captain) who, throughout the book, ends up in four different, interesting lands. One of the lands is inhabited by tiny people, one by giants, one by horses who talk, and one land floats in the air...

-Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

For Sci-Fi:

-books by Kurt Vonnegut, such as Slaughterhouse-Five, Cat%26#039;s Cradle, etc...His books contain ideas like time travel, aliens, etc.

Best wishes!

What did Shakespeare believe in, or felt strongly about?

I need to write a speech on what he believed in or felt strongly about? I can%26#039;t find any info. Thanks (:
What did Shakespeare believe in, or felt strongly about?
Love. . . ?
What did Shakespeare believe in, or felt strongly about?
lol, gosh, he certainly felt strongly about sleeping around, lol

On a serious note, he definately had strong views on women. I just love that speech in Taming of the Shrew that Kate gives at end which is supposed to show she is tamed, but.... the relationship she describes is idealized and not subserviant. In a lot of his work there are nice, early feminism threads.

He also had a strong feelings about (to use common slang) bromances and what it took to be a good male friend etc.

Writing a book, does anybody want a copy?

It%26#039;s about a street person who gets a job, celebrates by smoking pot, and blacking out. That doesn%26#039;t go so well with 52 people, who got brutally murdered because of this.

A little bit of the story is:

As the wind blew the paper away, Charlie finally knew why he never should鈥檝e cheated on his drug test.

The story starts when Charlie Bodwin found a job at Aburger Town. He walked into the local Aburger Town and found a job application laying on the ground at his feet. That got his brain running. He thought that if he told them he was moving and had no cell phone, he might get the job!

The 100 degree warmth had half the population of Dreadsville in polls or inside. That was not the case with Chuck. He went in his box and complained of the heat. He realized that if he could get the job, he could be cool for at least 6 hours.

TWILIGHT FANS: Breaking Dawn? What do you want to happen?

After reading the first chapter, my friends and I came up with this theory of whats going to happen in Breaking Dawn. Do you think it could happen?

This is just a theory..

Bella gets married, goes on her honeymoon with Edward (I want it to be a deserted island where he can sparkle as much as he wants). Jacob is still in Canada during the wedding, and suddenly shows up in Forks when Edward and Bella get back from their honeymoon to prepare for her transformation. Jacob imprinted on someone! While he was in northern Canada (where Seth said he was), he took a side trip to Alaska and met Tanya (from the vampire coven in Denali Rosalie mentioned in Eclipse) and imprinted on her. We learn about her past, what happened between her and Edward, turns out she still loves him. She orders Jacob to kill Bella, and because of the power of imprinting, he agrees.

This fits in with how, in the first chapter, Jacob is in Canada, and the preface.

So, I want to know...
TWILIGHT FANS: Breaking Dawn? What do you want to happen?
Well, I would like for Bella and Edward to get married. Bella to turn into a vampire. BUT, at the wedding, Jacob comes back and interferes...you know...with the whole, %26quot;Speak now or forever hold your peace.%26quot; thing...

I don%26#039;t know, I just can%26#039;t wait until the book comes out!!

Sadly, I haven%26#039;t read Eclipse, but if they don%26#039;t turn Bella into a vampire in Eclipse, then she better turn into one in Breaking DAwn.
Reply:Thats actually pretty interesting. I mean it COULD happen, but I think if that did happen (which it could, because somebody asked Stephenie Meyer if werewolves could imprint on vampires and she said she couldn%26#039;t answer that xP) I don%26#039;t think it would involve Edward cuz Stephenie Meyer said that she won%26#039;t add another live triangle to the series, so as of Eclipse, Edward and Bella are practically together, FOREVER!!! YAY! Lol!
Reply:Sorry some of my Twilight answers are very opinionated and others who are on Team Jacob might hate me.

Heyy.......

I like your theory,

but I think that during Edward and Bella%26#039;s wedding the Volturi will attend and maybe Jacob will do something to ruin their wedding and reveal that the Cullens are vampires so Bella%26#039;s dad will try to shoot them and instead someone else starts to bleed and Jasper will attack them and Edward will do the same because it%26#039;s not Bella%26#039;s blood now, it%26#039;s someone elses.

And when that does happen, Jacob will expect that Bella will see how horrible Edward is but she doesn%26#039;t and instead Bella uses her own blood to lure Edward away because Edward will see that Bella is bleeding and will want to help her. But the Volturi take Bella away and this is all just my theory of waht will happen.

But maybe in the end, hopefully, Jacob will die.

(again sorry to Team Jacob)

Yeah, i am on team Edward.
Reply:i think that bella will become a vampire because that%26#039;s what breaking dawn refers to (becoming a vampire) and that edward wont be attracted to her anymore or will at least be confused because he was attracted the scent of her blood, so then she%26#039;ll be all depressed and she wont have anyone to turn to but then jacob will come back and have imprinted on someone or think that he has and then he wants to help her but he cant stand vampires and then she%26#039;ll run away and the Italian vampires will get her and edward wont find out about it, but jacob will and there will be this whole extensive thing about him rescuing her and then he%26#039;ll be confused and then realize that he was supposed to imprint on bella as a vampire so that the werewolfs and vampires could make an alliance. so yeah, that%26#039;s what i think will (eventually) happen...not sure if it will in breaking dawn, but it is just a totally wild guess anyways. well, have fun guessing.

Does anyone know where I can download John Barrowmans autbiography audio book for free?

I dont really want to have to use limewire or anything that makes me download a program.

What is a good title for my story?

I am writing a story, and I need a good title. My story is about a mushroom on an adventure, almost Indiana Jones like, but not corny. He is on the search for the golden mushroom, and I was thinking about calling it, %26quot;A shroom upon the unknown%26quot;, but I was not sure that that would work!!! Who else has something better? I am hoping for something meaningful, something that will drag in readers. All answers are appreciated!
What is a good title for my story?
A mushroom? That%26#039;s cute!!

How about... %26quot;Search for the Gold%26quot; %26quot;A Mushroom%26#039;s Adventure%26quot;

Honestly, I dunno.

Good luck with your story!! :)
What is a good title for my story?
Shrooming the golden shroom

A Shroom with a Hue

Gloaming the Shroom

Roaming for the Gloaming Shroom? -gloaming like a golden sunset, lol

The Gloaming Shroom

lol, I dunno sounds like a fun, quirky read and my suggestions are only getting cheesier.hmmmmm

A cheesy shroom, lol -ok, ok, I stop

Like Water For Chocolate is a book by laura esquirel?

Like water for chocolate

important scenes explain exactly what happen and why it is signicant

What is the name of this stephen king book?

I think its about a boy who had tunnels under his house. He would always go down there, and one day the house burned down and everyone thought he was dead. I reallly want to read it.
What is the name of this stephen king book?
Robo, I think you may be confusing this with a book by another (older) horror writer, %26quot;The Other%26quot;, by Thomas Tryon. To my recollection, King never wrote a story like the one you%26#039;ve described.

%26quot;The Other%26quot; was published in 1971, and was a best-seller, A movie was made of the book in 1972 and did very well.

Does anybody know if they will ever write a new gossip girl book?

I loooooved the Gossip Girl books before they became a TV show (don%26#039;t like the show), and I know that now they have the Carlyle Sisters Gossip Girl books, but I don%26#039;t like those. Does anybody know if Cecily von Ziegesar will write any more books about Blair, Nate, or Serena? Please give me any info you know!
Does anybody know if they will ever write a new gossip girl book?
She will write more books, she is currently working on another one.
Does anybody know if they will ever write a new gossip girl book?
she probably will

and I hope she does!!!

I need some help with a book im writing...help??

ok my book is about a girl who is being physically abused, but her friends have been trying to figure out why she was acting strange, they tried confronting her, talking to her, giving her and intervention, but nothing worked, one day the person who is beating her up knocked her out and her friends came into her house looking for her and found her on the floor passed out... then her friends sent her to the hospital.

(this isnt a good summary, but im not the best at writing summaries.:)

what should happen to end the book/??ive been stuck with this for such a long time! help is needed! thank you sooooo much :D

there%26#039;s no sequel just so you know.
I need some help with a book im writing...help??
She dies at the hospital! Always good to end with a death.
I need some help with a book im writing...help??
I would certainly like to see some large amounts of girl bonding to get over this horrid abuse, and I%26#039;d love her friends to intervene in a very hands on way. Then a little revenge would be nice followed by an I will Survive type moment, The End, lol
Reply:Maybe her friends go after the person who was beating her up, and get the arrested/beat them up in revenge? That would be cool.

Good luck with the book, that%26#039;s really cool!
Reply:I think she should go to the hospital and have a confessional with her friends. Talk about her emotions to give the reader insight about what she was going through (if you haven%26#039;t been already, of course! :] ) to emphasize the point of the book. Have the friends report him to the police because their friend is too afraid to do so or too in love with him....something like that! Then have the guy come to get her and have her kill him.

I always like endings like that! haha

I want to get a copy once this is published by the way! :D Let me know so I can go buy it!
Reply:have the victim grl call th police on him and wen hes in jail have her go talk to him and say something about how strang she is and how week he is
Reply:Um from what I here there are only four endings for a story here they are:

gets what they want are happy

get what they want are unhappy

don%26#039;t get want they want are happy

don%26#039;t get what they want are unhappy

also, what your trying to teach people about effects the ending. I would have a %26#039;get what they want unhappy%26#039;, because it takes years for abuse survivors to heal. I hope I%26#039;v been a help.

First Chapter of Breaking Dawn??

I already own the book Eclipse. I cannot just go and buy the special edition? If anyone has the first chapter can you send it to me through e-mail? If so please send it to babeeboo101@yahoo.com

THANK YOU!!
First Chapter of Breaking Dawn??
You can go here to read the first few pages:

http://stepheniemeyer.com/index.html (Scroll down until you see May 30th, then click on Entertainment Weekly Link)

After that it%26#039;s ILLEGAL (unless you buy the Eclipse Special Edition) because it%26#039;s copyrighted material, just as Stephenie Meyer has said:

As some of you may have noticed, many people who have typed out or scanned either the entire books, portions of the books or first chapter of Breaking Dawn have received (or should be receiving) a message from their hosting companies that notices were sent from my publisher to take the content down. I know people are eager to share their excitement about my books, which I love, but you may not be aware that making portions of the book available for download is violating my copyright (unless you have written permission from me or my publisher). Quoting a sentence or two is fine, but anything beyond that is in violation of copyright. Basically, copyright gives an author control over where, when and how her work is made available to the public. This exists to protect the author and her work a lot of effort has been put into creating these books for you to enjoy -- so I hope people cooperate in respecting the copyright for all my novels.

Are the Harry Potter 8 rumors true?

Is she really going to write one book just for charity and option it off in an auction? If so will somebody please put it on the internet?
Are the Harry Potter 8 rumors true?
No, but she is writing 1 more book, but it isnt technically a harry potter 8, its like a HP encyclopedia
Are the Harry Potter 8 rumors true?
She already did that.... She called it Tales of Beedle the Bard. Amazon bought it, and you can find information on it there;.
Reply:Ya theres no more books in the series but they still might make some encyclopedia junk
Reply:she is writing an encyclopedia and a prequel.

鈾?br>Reply:no
Reply:The prequel is only like 800 word it%26#039;s written on an index card and the card will be auctioned...after the auction the story will be published on the internet and in a book for charity featuring index card stories by other authors...for more info on everything Harry Potter goto www.leakynews.com.
Reply:JK Rowling and many other authors were asked to right a short story to be auctioned off for charity. They wrote these stories on cards.

She wrote an 800 word prequel to Harry Potter that will be auctioned off for charity on June 10th. This is not considered Harry Potter 8, just a short prequel.

It will be published in a book called %26quot;What%26#039;s Your Story? Postcard Collection%26quot; that will have a limited release in August and only be sold at a UK bookstore.

http://www.waterstones.com/waterstoneswe...

That bookstore will put the prequel online for all Potter fans to read on June 11th. (This will be the only legal online copy, if anyone copies it and distributes it throughout the internet they would be violating copyright laws). If you live in the UK you can also read it through the window of the bookstore.

JK Rowling has also said she plans on writing a Harry Potter encyclopedia, but it won%26#039;t be published for a long time.

JK Rowling is currently working on novels that are not Potter related. I heard it was crime fiction aimed at adults.

Has anyone read The Luxe? Did you like it?

yeah, i read it. i didnt really like it. it didn%26#039;t have a good plotline--it wasnt really that exciting or anything.

the main character dies so yeah, kinda dumb

For people that have read the book " Lovely Bones " by Alice Sebold?

ok i jus finished reading the book and now i have to make a box and in it i have to put valuables, items, or tools etc. about one of the characters and i chose mr Harvey.

So basically what Mr. Harvey would carry with him...i only know 2 things i could put in this box and that is a knife and a bracelet...do u guys have any other ideas on what to put in?
For people that have read the book %26quot; Lovely Bones %26quot; by Alice Sebold?
At one part in the book it talks about how he loved making dolls,so i guess you could put dolls in the box.
For people that have read the book %26quot; Lovely Bones %26quot; by Alice Sebold?
I read the book two summers ago, so I don%26#039;t remember much. But doesn%26#039;t Mr. Harvey go through the items that he stole from other girls? You can find that in the book and put those in the box.

Maybe like a plastic icicle, which fell and made him lose his balance and fall in the ravine and die.

Good luck with your project!
Reply:Well, Mr. Harvey built doll houses for a living so maybe a doll or doll furniture.

Sounds like a wonderful, nice, ambitious summer. Good luck!
Reply:You seem to like quite a few of the %26quot;classics%26quot; of various eras--to spice things up, I%26#039;d try some Faulkner--maybe %26quot;Go Down Moses%26quot; or, if you%26#039;re feeling ambitious, %26quot;The Sound and the Fury.%26quot; For something like 1984, maybe %26quot;The Man in the High Castle%26quot; by Philip K. Dick, and for something a bit more abstruse, maybe Franz Kafka? %26quot;The Trial%26quot; is very good, and is interesting on many metafictional levels, seeing as he died before finishing the novel. I%26#039;d also round things up with some Italo Calvino--absolutely anything by him is great, but I%26#039;d look into %26quot;If On a Winter%26#039;s Night a Traveler%26quot; if you like metafiction at all. And if you%26#039;re -really- looking for a bit of a mindbending read, try %26quot;The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle%26quot; by Haruki Murakami (though i%26#039;ll warn you that, though well done, the book does lean towards the graphic in a few scenes--it is, after all, a book fixated about the Japanese collective war guilt post WW2).

Hmm, maybe some plays? Tom Stoppard is a great read--are you a Shakespeare fan? While %26quot;Ronsencrantz and Guildenstern%26quot; is a bit more fun after reading Beckett%26#039;s %26quot;Waiting for Godot%26quot; and knowing Shakespeare%26#039;s %26quot;Hamlet%26quot; very well, it%26#039;s still a solid read on its own. His %26quot;Arcadia,%26quot; though, is possibly his most touching work, even if %26quot;Travesties%26quot; is just as funny and well done (though a bit pretentious at times). Ibsen is a must if you%26#039;re looking for a solid choice--%26quot;The Dollhouse%26quot; is pretty famous.

I wouldn%26#039;t concentrate on reading %26quot;to improve your vocabulary%26quot;--in all honesty, it%26#039;s more about the quality of the books you read than the number, and if you%26#039;re concerned about, let%26#039;s say, SAT vocab, reading Victorian era novels really won%26#039;t help you all that much. Just enjoy and don%26#039;t worry so much about making a long list for yourself--if you find that you like Joyce, read more by him and his contemporaries. If, however, someone like Atwood is more of your style, go with that!

Eleanor of Aquitaine: A Life by Alison Weir?

Well, yesterday I was reading this book at the library and taking notes for a research project I am doing. I wrote down the name and author of the book but forgot to record date of publication, place of publication and publisher. I can%26#039;t cite it in my bibliography if i don%26#039;t have these things! if anybody has a copy of the book, could you please help?

Does anyone know what this book is called?

There is a book and it%26#039;s about this girl is very religious (i forgot the specific religion) and it starts out when she is younger and there is a town picnic and the guys have to take a girl and the draw straws for her cause no one wants to take her and then she finds out and she leaves. (the guy that picked her straw wise was the guy she liked) She comes back a while later and she works in a store (can%26#039;t remember whose store) and the guy she liked works there and her brother. And then the guy she likes gets beat up and she finds him or somthing like that and in the end they end up together. Does anyone know what book that is?

Thanks.

* Chapter One *

Wait, has he been here all year? How come I’ve never seen him before? Of course I notice the last day of school…

Ashlyn sat tapping her freshly manicured nails on the armrest, her eyes focused across the auditorium.

“He looks new, never noticed him before…” Elle squinted at him, “maybe foreign exchange student?” she smiled and raised her eyebrows at Cami. The two laughed keeling over in their chairs.

“You guys!” Ashlyn whipped around to face them, “Focus! I need status on this boy, and quick. He’s already sitting with Aubrey,” she turned around and centered in on him, “I won’t allow him to make friends with them first.” Ashlyn watched with a mixture of disgust and jealousy as Aubrey and her clique laughed and flirted with cute new boy. She snapped a quick picture on her baby pink iPhone and turned around to face the girls.

“And so, we are glad to announce that this year has been a success in many ways…” the principle, Mr. Boirs, spoke into the microphone...
Aspiring writer in need of some constructive criticism?
Okay... I think that it was good but there are definately a couple things that you could do to make it better. First of all, I think that the first chapter should get people%26#039;s attention better. I was having a hard time getting into the story. You have to make it so the reader wants to keep going. Have something there to grab their attention. Another suggestion, would be that you shoud either have a. a little less dialogue, or b. a little more of what the people are thinking or feeling. You need to show more and do less telling. I know that it%26#039;s hard to blindly accept what other people that you don%26#039;t even know say about your writing. I mean, they aren%26#039;t the only people that have their opinions and they don%26#039;t know your story quite yet, but I still think that you should try to do the things that I told you. I think it could be really good if you did. I mean, it%26#039;s good anyways, but i think it would make it even better.

No offense, your writing is good already and you obviously don%26#039;t have to do what I said. Either way it will be good.

Hope I could help! Good luck!!!!
Aspiring writer in need of some constructive criticism?
You are a good writer, girl! Right away I got a picture of the characters and the kind of school they were in. I would say you have a great start. Warnings would be to keep it original! There are lots of books and movies made in the %26quot;mean girls%26quot; style so be sure to incorporate originality to the characters and plot. For example, I would be careful to not go overboard on people being mean, nice, pretty or popular. In real life, things are more subtle... and if you master this in writing it can actually be more biting and icy than over-exaggerated scenarios or people. Btw, none of this is stuff I see in your work so far, but just wanted to warn you since you%26#039;ve chosen this genre. Good job and good luck!
